Day 11
Job. Check.
Housing. Check.
Rain. Check check.
Unfortunately, D.C. in the spring is not as picture perfect as it appears on the magnets and postcards. Humidity turns carefully placed hair into a frizzy mess of split ends and it is virtually impossible to step outside without getting the bottom of your pants soaked in a combination of water, mud, and in some places, sewage. Surprisingly for some (not for others), I love this city.
I begin working on Capitol Hill a week from Monday, so I still have time to play “tourist” for a little while yet. Two of my favorite places in D.C. and ones that I recommend to anyone who visits here, are Capitol Hill Books and Market Lunch. They are located in Eastern Market, which happens to be rated as one of the top 50 neighborhoods in the U.S. Hopefully the rain will die down this weekend, as I am going to join the masses of tourists and visit the Holocaust Museum and the National Gallery of Art.
Right now, I am actually at a debate class at a private Korean school in Fairfax. Daniel teaches several classes here, and tonight he is teaching the high school debate class as an example for prospective parents. Anyway, I think they are going to have me help some of the girls with their presentation skills. Call or email any time, I’d love to hear from you!
